A week with Carey....

We love Skip-BO
Pick a color.....
Me champion!
Hello All!

Well, this morning Carey left. Yes I am very sad, but already have a list of things which still need to get done( so i am preoccupied). We had a very busy week together, pretty much buying some furniture for the house( beds, tables,tv,heater etc). But we have just enough to make it more cozy. Carey has now experience how long things take and how things work here in Argentina. It is just... DIFFERENT.

We are getting into a routine with Juan and he is getting adjusted to rules and some expectations of the house. He is a good kid. Unfortunately Carey did not get to spend a lot of time at the hogar with the other children due to the fact we were getting things done for the house.

I am now focusing on the passport AGAIN. we hope this week we will make another trip to BA. There is a lot of paperwork envolved etc. The staff have been really great about getting things done.

So, that is where we are now...enjoy the photos....

Carey is here & Juan moved IN!

Hello All!

Well, while I was waiting for Carey to arrive I got a phone from the hogar saying that Juan had permission to move in with us! So in one month being here everything is pretty much settled. Now we need to really spend energy on the passport.... It will be nice to have Carey here for a week so we can get into a routine with Juan. We are buying a few more things to make the house a little more comfortable and inviting for his friends to hang out..like a flat screen HD TV :) Carey is realizing how long things take, how much energy it takes with decisions and how much Nadia is needed. But it will all work out. I am just happy he is here and we are spending time with Juan!

Will add photos later!
Thanks for your prayers... things are going well.

Carey's Arrival

Well, after being sick and having no voice for 3 days, I am feeling better and back in action. Carey arrives Fri. 23rd. which we are both very excited about. He will be here for 1 week. I have not been at the hogar very much but things are going okay. I will be there more this week with Carey as the kids are excited for his arrival...a new face!!!! Americano Americano!!! They love visitors!!!
Here is some artwork from one of the teenagers at the hogar. There are some very talented children and I am very impressed with their drawing skills. I look forward to hanging some up on my walls.
I will take pictures with Carey here and post them. But now I need to clean the house!!!!

Chau for now!

Friday Night Update....

Hello All!

I am sitting in our house on a Friday night eating pizza a lone. Juan goes to see his "San Nicolas" family on the weekends... so he is there and I am home. BUT the exciting news is Carey WILL be here next FRIDAY....yippeee.

This week was relatively quite. I did have to do some errands around town which take ALOT longer than it does in the U.S. First I mostly walk, or take a bus or a taxi. I did get a few important items accomplished which was nice.

We had DSS come to the house for a visit/interview to make sure we were suitable for Juan to live with. even though I am th only one here right now. We are praying next week we get the thumbs up for his to move in. The other great news is we are going Tuesday to BA to get his PASSPORT, this whould take about 4 weeks to get, then we go for the visa and then if that is a yes...we will book tickets home for JULY for a mini vacation! Please keep us in your prayers. So far things have gone relatively smoothly.
Well, I hope you all are doing well. I will attach more photos later.

The HOUSE!

Front door looking in
kitchen
Cleaning the sidewalk
Tired from moving...
Our first sit down meal..BBQ..see the grill in back?
Hello Friends and Family!

Well, after a very busy week of moving, buying, cleaning, sweeping, moping and fixing, I finally have a moment to write. Here are pictures of the house! I will take more pictures later as we have very little right now, but it works( less is more). We had our first BBQ at the house today which was lots of fun and relaxing! 99% of everything is borrowed minus the refrigerator which I bought which took 6 days to get.

Juan and I are doing well. He was been very helpful with everything. I now feel like I can go visit the kids at the hogar and focus on improving my Spanish and look for a teaching job.
Hope everyone is doing well.

OUR CASA.....

Hola!
We have very exciting news...... we have rented a house! It is rather large and very Argentino. Will take picture when i have it decorated. I have borrowed 99% of the items from friends from the hogar. This speeds up the process for Juan to move in. We are both very excited( and tired). As I have been very busy with Nadia seeing places, walking around town, looking at refrigerators( we need to buy one) seeing who is willing to loan us stuff and then reporting my LONG day activities and accomplishments to Carey. It is in a very nice neighborhood. All the staff who looked at it said it was nice and they all approved. Now they are all anxious for us to have a party. Soon enough!
Well, that is it for now.

Things are going well. I have been busy figuring out housing. It is a little complicated and a little more difficult than we thought, but people are very very helpful. I have been to church with Juan and learning his schedule, meeting his friends and getting to know him more. We are both anxious to get a place to live. I pray in a week or so.
Last night was church at the hogar and I was introduced to the community. Afterwards was pizza night. I am doing a little better with my Spanish. Juan and I are doing well.
